It's just after midnight in Australia, so it is now the 25th.
My dealer rang me yesterday (the 24th), and the D700 and SB900 is there if I want it.
I think I'm going to skip - I wanted to confirm the D700 has AF as fast as the D3 (ie: faster than the D300) and is as responsive as the D3 (ie: faster than the D300).
I've used both D300 and D3 extensively - if the only real improvement over the D300 is high ISO performance, I'll skip. There is no question the D3 is much faster performing. If it is every bit as fast as the D3, I'll opt in.
However, as I have DX lenses (10.5 and 17-55) I think I'll opt to stick with the D300 and invest in long glass.

My local dealer called me today and I am skipping for the same reason. I haven't ruled out the D3 completely, but I will get one or the other. I just want to see some user reviews first.

People in Europe and Asia are really lucky since they can get the camera since 23rd. Dealers in North America are very strict and Nikon will deliver the cameras to them on 25th, so the earliest one we can get is saturday delivery..
Just picked mine up in Tokyo. You can find them in the bigger or more specialised stores now. I'm very impressed. Will see if I can post some files later on.

Paid for and picked my D700 up today, so it looks like the 25th here in North America was delivery day. Hope it is a case of if it looks right it is right. I will have to wait till tomorrow to find out. Nite shift interferes with a lot of fun.
