Dear Fellow Nikonians,
Well I guess some dealers do have some D700 items now, as I have seen last night that Berger Bros. has the KIT, repeat, not just the body, but the Kit is available "IN STOCK" per the website. Here is what they say on the site:

I have pre-ordered just the body from Berger. I wonder how long that will take, to get my D700 body, now that the "KIT" is clearly in stock. I'm a little disappointed that the kit is available but not the body alone. Yes, I know that in the past I have seen the same thing happen with other bodies, people buying the "Kit" when all they need is the body and then having to offload the lens. Why is this.

I'm fairly certain that the "In Stock" tagline is coming from the 24-120 lens. Notice it's not on the same line as the body. I don't think they body is in, yet.

Did anyone get a kit in stock today at Berger Bros.???

I have not seen any post on any forum with a person obtaining a D700 today, anywhere. I noticed that the Berger Bros. ad for the D700 Kit with that 24-120 lens, changed from stating "in stock" on Saturday and Sunday, to stating on Monday "expected Tuesday 7/22", and today, Tuesday, the kit ad states "expected 7/25(Friday)".

I guess I'll tone down my excitement as apparently, Friday will be the day for "in store" purchases, and perhaps someone will post something from that type of purchase.

My D700 must be delivered as I live in a small town with zero legitimate camera stores which deal in high end items. I envy those who can attend the special preview type demos of cameras and lenses and special classes/seminars at the legitimate photography stores, mostly in the very large cities; I see these listed at Berger, Calumet, Samy's, etc..

Hey Debra,

They (BB) told me this evening that they are sending the first batch of bodies out tomorrow and will send tracking numbers to everyone they send them to as soon as they get them from the carrier. They did not say how many that is but they did say mine was ready to go.

They also said they have plenty of SB900's which was a nice surprise. From what I have read I thought it would be later in August before they showed up.

Thanks Don, my D700 is also in the first shipment, according to Lisa who updated me last night and mine is supposed to ship out tomorrow. I have to get mine via USPS shipment as I'm never home when FedEx or UPS come here and to drive to either place is 70 miles round trip for me. The Post Office is 2 miles. No contest.
Yes, I do look forward to a full frame DSLR, at last. Hope you like yours also, I am very excited,
