Hi there!

I have a Nikon D700 and lately I noticed that can't format CF cards I follow all the instructions in the manual and nothing happen... I also try it in My Menu..and still the same...anybody had this problem before that can help me out??

Hi Silvio,

Sorry to hear of your problem.
Are you pressing and holding the mode and trash can buttons simultainiously until "For" flashes in the top LCD diplay then pressing and holding both buttons a second time until "For" briefly flashes in the number of shots remaing brackets in the top LCD display?

I would purchase another card to see if you can format the new card. If you can, then maybe your existing card is corrupted.
How old is your existing card? Do you only format that card in your camera?

Silvio,
I would still purchase another card just to confirm whether it's the card or camera that's giving you the problem.
Is the card recommended by Nikon to use with your D700?
Have you contacted Nikon Support?

Why not try to format in another camera- yours, a friend or at a photo shop.
That should tell if it is the card or camera

Have you Protected Images From Deletion?

Do you have images from other cameras on the card?
Do you have other file types from other applications on the card?

Make sure your battery is fully charged.

Are you pressing any other buttons by accident?

Many users accidentally press the DOF preview button when holding the camera facing down and this cancels all other operations. It has happened to most of use.

Yes, I have a card reader and doing it in the computer is no problem..is only when I insert it in the camera it doesn't format.

With the computer did you format as FAT32? That is the only format the camera can read.

Now I am able to format the card (delete images) using the set up menu..but not using the FORMAT MODE and pressing the garbage can together...why is that??
