Hi Guys, I have been playing around with Kenko tubes with limited success, On good advice here I am now using the tubes, (usually 36mm), with my Ai 135mm 2.8
For the most part, going to the 135mm has reduced a lot of the vignetting with the FX D700
Still going down the more economical track, (try to save up for longer glass ), I have been reading about the option of buying a Canon 500D in 77mm,
Apparently, good macro results can be made using it with an AF-S 300 f4?
I initially used my 300 f4 with the Kenko tubes but vignetting is a problem
Has any body here had success with the 77mm 500D/AF-S 300 f4 option? Regards, Gary

Rather than look for new equipment, I'd just work around the problem. If it were me, I'd first work on the vignetting in Lightroom. If that isn't sufficient, then I'd start framing a little looser and cropping. Unless you have to make a 24x36 you'll have plenty of cropping capability - and if you're printing on most standard paper sizes you'll need to crop some anyway.
None of your alternates is going to come close to the optical quality of the 300/f4 AFS with tubes.
