"Extension cable"

I've just recently purchased into the Nikon world with an N65. My eyes are such that it was getting harder to focus manually with my trusty AE-1. Big change here!!! I saw a picture SOMEWHERE in some magazine that showed a Nikon camera with one end of a cable attached to the flash boot and the other end attached to the flash itself, thus freeing up the flash unit for some external work. Any clues as to what this is all about?

Smells like the SC-17 cord. This will allow you to move the flash off camera yet maintain TTL metering.
