Hey, Great picture.

I actually posted my picture in the "Landscape" gallery and copied the link from that page to my post. Once I pasted the link, the image just appeared.

Like you, I'm new to the site, but learning. Learning on my camera too.

Thanks. I processed it with Topaz Adjust and/or Topaz Detail. I've recently started taking notes, at least sporadically, about my processing, but I hadn't started doing so in August when I took and processed this shot. I just know I had recently bought the Topaz suite and used it on this set, sometimes combining two effects. So you're right in that it is HDR-like, but not really HDR.

Thanks again. And while you didn't ask, about the processing for this shot, in case anyone is interested I went much more basic than with the sunset shot above it. I believe I used nothing but Aperture, plus maybe a Noise reduction in Photoshop.

I do like the contrast between the stark, plain, red and white opposed to the more extensive natural color palette.

This one was taken in San Antonio in October at an Audubon sanctuary. The bushes were almost alive with the large number of monarchs and other colorful butterflies. I wish I had my macro, but I only had my zoom.

Taken with a:

This is a Grey Crowned Crane, taken at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin. This guy has a very fancy hair do. Unfortunately, all of the cranes are behind fences, which accounts for the slight crosshatch pattern on the photo.

Taken with:
D40 with a 18-70 mm zoom, f/6.3, 1/400 with an ISO of 200.

Enjoy!

OK. One more. This was taken at the Chicago Botanic Garden this summer. This was shot in the middle of the day, from the ground up. I was worried about shooting at noon, but it actually turned out nice with the sun blotted out by one of the flowers.

I was halfway up these steps from the beach at St Ouen's Bay, Jersey, before I realised I should be photographing them.

This is just so pretty, Gail. Out of your garden? I'm already looking forward to my next year garden...Seemed like it was a short bloom year-this year!!!

Stourhead, Wiltshire UK, is one of the National Trust properties. A period house and beautiful gardens with a lake. Taken in October this year.

From the red sandstone cliffs to the fall colors of the Tamarisk trees with a bit of blue sky after the rain, I don't see how I could get any more color in one scene.

I wish it was my garden! I live in the Midwest now, but was visiting my parents in Texas when I shot this photo. The weather was gorgeous and everything was still in bloom! Thanks for the nice comments!

Very Creative!

I would have upped the saturation just a little bit. (IMHO)

Simple and Cool. Very Nice
