My D50(very low mileage) just recently stopped taking pictures. Nothing obvious seems to be wrong in that there are no err messages and mirror flips up and shutter seems to operate. Camera repair shop said that I need to replace the CCD imaging power sensor and wanted $450. I have been unable to find anything on such a repair and hate to give up on such a gently used camera. It has been a good one. Any help appreciated.

Sorry to hear it, but assuming your camera shop has the problem properly diagnosed, it sounds like the repair would cost more than the camera is worth. I love my D50, but I don't think I'd spend that much to repair it when I could put the money toward a new camera.

Mine too! This happened before and fixed itself. Again today
after adjusting menus and switching af and m switch on camera
several times and menu adjustments and then resetting whole
camera, it still will not take in auto focus, but will work in
manual. It seems that the pin does not pop up on opposite side
from the insertion index. How do I make this work again?
thanks, Jim
