"CF Memory Card Types"

I am a professional video photographer and am starting to get into taking stills. I have a Lexar 256mb 12X high speed memory card. Will this card work well with the D70. I was also considering the SanDisk Ultra II but I already have the Lexar. It writes at 1.8mb per second. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to the specs, the SanDisk Ultra II has a write speed of 9Mb/sec. I bought a 512 Ultra II for my new D70 and it seems to closely match the advertised speed.

I tried a continuous burst using NEF+JPEG size (~5.2-5.8Mb pics) and got 3fps right away and then a little more than 1 fps after the buffer filled up. So the buffer was emptying at about a rate of 9Mb/sec.

What I haven't tried yet is my regular Sandisk CF card (the regular blue kind) to see how much slower that is.

If your Lexar writes at 1.8Mb/sec, you might find a big improvement with the Ultra II.

Videoshooter-

Someone posted the following link somewhere on Nikonians the other day and I found it to be quite valuable: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-6816

As long as I'm posting, what do you recommend for powerful consumer digital video editing software? I could probably get a decent price on Adobe Premiere Pro through a student discount, but I'm afraid it would be too complicated for me to use.

Thanks purpleorchid and zep. Zep, I would recommend Final Cut Pro if you have access to a Mac but if not then the Adober Premiere Pro is also an excellent program and just like anything, once you get a chance to play with it and become comfortable it will be no problem. I'm also feeling like a student because I've been shooting video for so long that I haven't picked up a still camera in a while except for my wife's Olympus 2040Z. Any let me know if you have any more questions about video and I'll do the same about stills. Thanks again.
