Hi,

I dont like reading books, I find it hard to concentrate and take it all in but I got this D90 book in kindle and find it much easier to digest.

You can add bookmarks to pages you want to refer to, highlight sections and add notes, change the size of the writing etc.

It's not as portable as a book but for me it works and it's cheaper.

For someone who's not into reading books and has a computer give it a go you'll probably enjoy having it.

ps I even got The Nikon Creative Lighting System in kindle to learn about using speedlites.

All the best.

The Rocky Nook Nikon books are also available on the Barnes & Noble Nook readers, both the B&W Nook and the Nook Color.

There is an option to also obtain the PDF version of the ePub.

The Nook Color has been updated to include the ability to run Apps. And there is ez PDF Reader that will put all of your PDFs into an application contained library. So you can not only have the Nikonian books, but also the Nikon manuals available in the field.

Hi Stevo,

I also purchased the Kindle version of Mastering the Nikon D90 and downloaded the free Kindle for PC software which syncs all books purchased and makes them available for reading on my PC or Kindle.
I find Darrell's books very informative and eagerly awaiting the release of Mastering the Nikon D7000.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Darlene,

Having registered with Amazon I actually downloaded Kindle free for my laptop, which has windows vista, after kindle was installed on my laptop I purchased Mastering the D90 from Amazon UK for £9.00 approx.

On Amazon or wherever you are getting it from search for Mastering the D90 kindle version and you'll find it.

Amazon sent it straight to my kindle application on my laptop and bascially that was it you can just go ahead and start reading it, but Mastering the D90 isn't free you have to buy it.

I find it very good and I use it a lot, it's pretty easy to use and well worth the money.

All the best from Belfast

Now how hard was that? And isn't it scary that one click of a button and your credit card is charged....lol, I did the free sample part and then thought "what the heck", so I went ahead and just ordered it...I'm setting my camera specs to it as we speak...It's kind of cool to sit on my couch, feet propped up, kindle in one hand and camera in the other reading...I just love this DIGITAL and KINDLE world...
Hey thanks Mike,,,happy birthday to me...happy birthday to me. lol

I use the Nook Color, The ePub format used by the Kindle and Nook Color is not updatable, but you should be able to annotate it for a reference to the update and your Kindle should be able to read the PDF format.

Hi Darlene,

I can only tell you what way it works on my laptop, if I want to see Figure 2 or whatever, I just move my mouse cursor onto Figure 2 and click on it and it goes straight to it. If you see a message saying , No Definition Found, you haven't been on the Figure Number properly with your cursor or whatever way your Kindle machine works, just click again on it, it seems you have to be on the right spot.

To get back to were you were just click the arrow at the top, beside where it says Home and that will bring you back.

Dont panic, just play about with it and you'll pick it up no problem.

All the best

Hi Darlene,

Hopefully I can help here. When you wish to view a figure using your Kindle, scroll to that figure 2-1 or whatever using the navigator button. When to cursor is on that figure, click the center dot in the button. To get back to where you were, just press the back button under the navigator.
TIP:
If the figure # you want to view is closer to the top of the page, use the Down arrow to scroll. Use the Up arrow if the figure # is near the page bottom. That will save some scrolling.

As for the Rocky Nook updates, I just saved them in my D90 folder for reference. Copy & paste to the Kindle for PC program does not work.

Hope this helps.

The update is 7 pages. I'm curious as to why Mr. Young didn't just update the original, forward to Amazon.Com so we could download the corrected book as opposed to having to add a note then finding the update. Amazon allows downloading previous purchases at no cost. I added a note to that section on my Kindle and Kindle for PC but only a note on where the update is on my PC. We surely can't add 7 pages of info.

I don't have a kindle. I do have a NookColor, which I like a lot, but there is no nookbook version of this book. Fortunately, I was able to download the kindle app to my smartphone without owning a kindle and so I have it available while I am out taking pictures.

The smartphone also comes in handy in doctor/dentist's offices while waiting to be seen.

Hi Leonard,

I'm glad to hear you were able to install the Kindle app on your smartphone to read Mastering the Nikon D90 book. I had no idea that app was available. I'm still using the old clam-shell phone with a 1-1/4" screen, my dumb phone Everyone I know has a smartphone but I can't part with my antique.
Enjoy Darrell's wonderful book.

Amazon does not sell competitive format to its proprietary eBook format. I find going through Mastering the Nikon 90 from O'Reilly Media provides ePub format needed by the Nook Color and also allows one to have a copy in the PDF format. You can download the Adobe Digital Editions and side load the ePub version onto your Nook Color. You also have access to errata. B&N.com also sells Mastering the Nikon D90.
