"convert profile"

Normally I use 'convert' to produce a Nikon srgb jpg from Nikon adobe NEF in Capture NX2.

I know this is not a Photo Mechanic forum but I have just found (still learning) that I when I open NX2 within PM to process an image I can instead use the file menu in PM to convert to a jpg and also change the profile at the same time.

Is there any problem with this method where I actually end up with a srgb IE61961 jpg as opposed to a Nikon (if viewed in PM)?

If I check that converted jpgs prfile in NX2 metadata it still says Nikon Adobe and not srgb?

Thanks for looking.

There's no real difference between Nikon's sRGB version and PM's. Since I have sRGB IEC61966-2.1 installed in my system, whenever I convert in CNX I convert to that profile instead of Nikon's. Not that it makes a difference, I just think it's more standard to embed that version than Nikon's.

Metadata will show what color space was used to take the picture, not what is currently embedded in the image file.

Regards,
Frank
