Can anyone give me an explanation in simple terms please?
I am getting "high CPU usage" messages from Windows particularly from Photo Mechanic compared to Capture NX2 with the same folder open in either program at a time.

With only the desktop open Task Manager Performance Monitor shows-
45% CPU and 2.7GB Physical memory.

Opening NX2 - 50% & rises initially to nearly 100% then drops back to 50% with a folder of NEF thumbnails open.
No change in Memory.

Opening PM - 32% rising to 100% CPU and stays at that level with the same NEF folder open.
No real change in memory useage.

Are these figures reasonable?

Win 7 64 bit, 8GB RAM 2.1GHz twin core pentium laptop.

Thanks

Seems odd to me. I'm running a similar setup as yours with no PM memory issues.

I think you might have better luck searching or posting a message in Camera Bits own PM forums: http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?board=2.0

I've noticed some discussions there regarding PM5 memory usage, but I can't recall the gist of them.

Thanks Mick, will go there, I thought it would be the opposite way around because my NX2 takes far longer to open than PM.
